Confession is good for the soul, go ahead and unburden yourself! I promise I won’ t judge.
I hate having facials. I feel terribly guilty about it because ideally I should be going off to salons and writing about them, but I've managed to facial-dodge for years and years. On the very, very odd occasion where I cannot get out of it, I hate every bleak moment of my face being stroked, pinched, kneaded, swept or cleaned and every fibre of my body wants to get the hell out of there. The very worst moment of a facial is where they shove cotton wool pads soaked in cucumber or something similarly salady over your eyes and say 'Just relax for a few minutes'. About a year later, they return from magazine reading, dancing naked, clipping their toenails or whatever else they can do with an effectively blind person at their fingertips, by which time I'm beyond it. And, no matter how good the facial, you end up looking exactly as you did before about 24 hours later. So, what's the point?
There, don’ t you feel better now?
Aunty Brown has a few more questions though; it’ s true that I’ m the nosy type.
When was the last time you visited the hairdresser?
OMG - I am ashamed to say that I only visit the hairdresser about two or three times a year, and actually 'visit' isn't correct - she comes to me. I've had the same hairdresser for fifteen years, we get on like a house on fire and she has never, ever done anything bad to my hair. So, despite being lucky enough to be offered several hair cuts a year, I've rarely taken up an invitation. I did go to Aveda at Holborn which I enjoyed and got a brilliant cut but I just don't love the salon experience. And my pet-hate is when someone tries to massage my scalp. It feels like head abuse.
Which bit of beauty trickery couldn’t you live without?
Are you seriously suggesting only one?? I suppose if pushed I would have to say my eye lash extensions. I have some purple ones interspersed with black at the moment and they really, truly rock.
You’ve overslept and have 5 minutes to get out of the house. Are you going out with
dirty hair or no makeup?
I'm not going out.
Which trend still makes you cringe?
Erm, I might have had a *moment* with black lipstick.
Hee hee! I'm very amused by the facial hating! That must be so hard to avoidq. I can imagine it can feel really claustrophobic and unpleasant in a treatment room, if you don't enjoy having your face probed. Thank you so much for taking part and sharing. I would have loved to have seen the black liner phase. I'm guessing it was more Naomi and than Kim?!
